Quit-tobacco class starts June 24

A new six-week Step Free from Tobacco class begins Wednesday, June 24, 6 p.m., at the Health District, 120 Bristlecone Drive, in Fort Collins.

The cost for residents of the Health District (northern Larimer County) is $10-$100 per person, depending on income.  Out-of-district residents pay $100. A "buddy discount" is available for district residents who enroll in the program with a friend or relative. Once enrolled in the program, participants can receive free nicotine replacement products (patches, gum and/or lozenges) for up to three months.

In addition to group classes to help people quit tobacco, the Health District also offers low-cost individual and couples sessions by appointment.  All Step Free from Tobacco sessions are led by Norma Pomerleau and Rosi Davidson, master-level certified tobacco treatment specialists and former tobacco users.

Step Free from Tobacco lasts six sessions and uses a positive, supportive approach and techniques that work. Studies show that tobacco users have the best chances of successfully quitting by using nicotine replacement and receiving support or counseling.
